Do I need open-cell spray foam insulation or closed-cell spray foam insulation?
One of the major benefits of spray foam insulation is that since we manufacture the foam at the time of installation, we can calibrate it to your needs. While a home in colder, drier climates may benefit from the airtight seal and high r-value of closed-cell foam, that same foam might create too effective an air barrier in a humid environment. Instead, the slow air leakage of an open-cell foam insulation may be a better choice.

How long does insulation last?

What is spray foam?
Originally developed in the 1930s, spray foam results from mixing isocyanate with a resin. This combination creates what is known as a polyurethane foam, and was quickly discovered to be a powerful insulator.
We refer to the product as ‘spray foam’ because of its method of application. The mixture is literally sprayed out of a device that resembles a paint gun, and the product then expands in place. This expansion property makes spray foam great for sealing air leaks and for filling wall cavities.
What is the right amount of insulation for my home?
The minimum amount of insulation appropriate for your home depends on where you live. Greater insulation values are recommended for colder climates, while regions with milder winters typically require lower values.
What does R-Value Mean?
R-Value is a number used to describe a material’s resistance to the flow of heat. The higher the r-value of the insulation, the less heat loss or heat gain a space will experience.
Where can I apply spray foam?
In new construction and renovations, it is not uncommon to see spray foam used anywhere that traditional insulation is applied! From attic insulation to crawl spaces, spray foam is extremely versatile.
Application after construction is slightly more limited as access becomes an issue. However, spray foam insulation is still a great option for attics, crawl spaces, and any unfinished exterior walls.
Additionally, spray foam insulation is a great option for metal sheds, barns, or other outdoor facilities. Unlike fiberglass insulation or cellulose batts, spray foam adheres directly to the surface – this means homeowners don’t have to worry about a lack of joists!
